Zoella breaks records with debut novel

Zoella

Zoella aka Zoe Sugg has achieved what all writers dream of, her debut novel has become the fastest selling of all time. That means it’s sold faster than J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter and Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code.

Almost 80,000 copies of Zoe Sugg’s book, Girl Online, were sold in its first week, overtaking all other author’s debuts including EL James’ Fifty Shades of Grey.

The book follows the life of Penny, an online blogger, who talks about her feelings and anxieties. Penny then meets a US pop star, becomes his girlfriend which leads to her blog going viral. The story is very similar to Zoe’s own life, Zoe found internet fame and an equally famous boyfriend, known as Alfie Deyes, to match.

Zoe started out on Youtube in 2007 talking about hair and beauty, years later Zoe’s Youtube channel, Zoella, has over 6.5 million subscribers.

The 24-year-old also has 2.5 million Twitter followers and just under 2 million likes on Facebook.

The tickets for her book signings across the UK in Manchester, Kent and Glasgow sold out in under 24 hours.

Fans of Girl Online shouldn’t have to wait long for more literature as rumour has it there is already a sequel lined up to come out in 2015.
