JPB x River Island

High street store River Island team up with designer Jena-Pierre Braganza for 11-piece collection.

Jena-Pierre Braganza is the latest name to join the impressive list of designers that have collaborated with high street stores in 2014. He is the newest member in the River Island Design Forum and has created an 11-piece collection for the high street brand.

The collection, which is set to be released in February, takes inspiration from JPB’s bold signature prints, as well as portraying the designer’s well recognised urban demeanour.

Speaking about his collaboration, Braganza told Vogue: “River Island has a distinctively young, cool voice and its girl is confident and a risk taker, as is the Jean-Pierre Braganza woman. Working with the River Island’s design and buying teams has been such a great experience, they rose to every challenge that I presented them with.”

The London-based designer will be following in the footsteps of many others who have created collections for the River Island Design Forum, which works alongside the British Fashion Council to create a platform for young up and coming designers. Since its launch in 2012, designers have included Eudon Choi, Tom Lipop, Joseph Turvey, Baartmans and Siegel and more recently, Liz Black – who designed Lady Gaga’s infamous monochrome circle dress.

Braganza’s 11-piece capsule collection is set to have a mixture of dresses, boiler suits and bomber jackets ranging between £35 and £100 – which is a teeny fraction of the price of his usual catwalk collections and isn’t too dissimilar from normal River Island price brackets too.

The collection will be available both online and in River Island stores on February 16, but if like some of us at Fashion North, you’re still a little unsure of what to expect from Jean-Pierre Braganza, check out his SS15 Architectonic collection above.
