12 Days of Christmas: Three French Hens – French Braid Tutorial

As part of our annual 12 days of christmas here at Fashion North, our Beauty Editor has created a French braid tutorial with three different looks, as on the third day of christmas our true love gave to us, three French hens.

Look one: Fishtail braid

A fishtail is a classy braid that can be worn on a night out if you haven’t had the time to style your hair. The detail within the braid looks like you’ve made more of an effort than you probably did, so it’s a win win situation. One tip for a fishtail braid would be to make sure the top is extra tight, so that it doesn’t unravel or create a gap.

Look two: Double French braid

A double braid is a simple look to either style your hair by sleeping in them or to keep your hair off your face. Sometimes wearing double braids is best suited with a cap or bobble hat, especially in the winter to keep your ears and head warm. This is definitely the most casual look out of the three.

Look three: Corn-plait braid

This look may need an extra pair of hands if you can’t corn-plait your own hair. It’s a stylish look that looks amazing with a huge pair of sparkly earrings. To make this look more edgy or more you, add some accessories into it such as hair rings, glitter or even a bit of tinsel for the festive season.

What’s your favourite kind of braid? Do you rely on them to style your hair for the next day? We certainly do, it’s such an easy way to create some volume and wave into your hair. Tweet us your thoughts to @Fashion_North
