Award season is in full flow and it’s a great chance to spy our favourite celebrities grace the red carpet and flaunt fabulous fashion pieces. One actress who stands out is 21st Century Barbie herself, Margot Robbie. After the July 2023 premiere of the highly anticipated live action Barbie movie, Margot has been delivering fierce fashion statements.

‘Pretty in pink’, in true Barbie style, Margot wore a custom-designed Giorgio Armani piece, in reference to the 1977 iconic ‘Superstar Barbie’. Draped head to toe in hot pink sequins, the halter neck column dress was a showstopper. The co-ordinating mesh feather boa further encapsulates the 70s Hollywood vibe.
Margot continues to channel her inner Barbie wherever she goes. I mean, why shouldn’t she? At the BAFTAs she wore another custom designed Giorgio Armani piece, and emboldened old Hollywood glamour. This looks may not be Barbie doll inspired per se, but the black sequins and satin pink silhouette scream doll-like fabulous! The outfit was a form-fitted strapless gown with a pronounced sweetheart neckline and d paired with gorgeous black satin gloves for a dramatic effect.

Her most recent carpet debut was at the 2024 Oscars, where the Barbie film received numerous nominations and one win for ‘Best Song’. As award season comes to a close, Margot bids a farewell to Barbie and is steering clear of pink for the foreseeable. Draped in a strapless, shimmery black gown, a piece from the Versace A/W24 ready-to-wear collection, the draped ruching of material around her hips accentuates her stunning figure.

And finally, Fashion North’s favourite Margot look this season was sported at the Vanity Fair Oscar after party, where we saw stars ditch the ballgowns and whip out the bodysuits… Well, at least, for Margot. Opting for an unconventional style, she wore a glitzy and gold corseted bodysuit, from Mugler’s S/S96 collection. Paired with a golden robe draped over her forearms, this look is party and elegance into one.
