For this challenge, I chose a colourful scarf, a long-time favourite from my wardrobe. Here are the scarf staying methods I created with my scarf.
Looped Hair Wrap
For the first style, I used it to create a looped hair wrap. I began by draping the scarf over my head, bringing both ends forward. Then, I formed a loop around my afro hair from the back.
Bringing the ends to the front, I tied them in a knot before twisting them together and finally tucking the twisted ends under the loop at the back to secure the style.
The Simple Loop
For This second style I drape the scarf around my neck, making sure one end is longer than the other. Then I took the longer end and looped it once around my neck.
You can leave the ends hanging straight or tie them loosely in a knot, as I’ve demonstrated in the photos.
Best for: Everyday warmth and a casual look. Works well with most scarf lengths and materials.
Waist Belt Style / Halter Top Style
For my last look, I explored two similar methods. The first involved using the scarf to create a waist belt with my wooden bangle (though any bangle would work).
I wrapped the scarf around my waist from the back, bringing both ends forward and passing each end through the bangle at the front.
After separating the ends, I brought them backward and secured them as I preferred, either with a knot or by tucking them in at the back.
The second style followed the same initial steps of wrapping the scarf around my waist and passing the ends through the bangle. However, instead of bringing the ends back down, I draped them to the back of my neck and tied a secure knot to hold it in place.
This alternative method could be a stylish choice for a night out or a party, perhaps worn over a bralette.
