New ‘Hannah Montana Inspired’ Vintage Store in Newcastle

A brand new vintage store, described by one of the owners as ‘Hannah Montana’s wardrobe mixed with teenage girl from the 2000s’ has just opened in Ouseburn, Newcastle.

On Friday 25th September, Effie’s hosted their own opening party with discounted prices, goodie bags, and even disco lights and music. They also had a table set up outside with an artist selling portrait paintings for £10 per person.

The store is co-owned by three local vintage sellers- Laura Jackson from Friday Vintage, Hannah from Mars Vintage and Lottie from Milk No Sugar.

In an interview with Fashion North, Laura explained that: “I met Hannah first, about three or four years ago at the Ouseburn Market and we just got chatting…Funnily enough, I followed Lottie online for about six years, but eventually we met in person around a year and a half ago. And ever since then it’s just been the three of us.”

She continued by explaining why they decided to collaborate on this new business venture: “When I got approached by the landlord to possibly take over this place, I asked them straight away, ‘Would you want to do it, the three of us?’. Just because I know with the three of us and the 30 years experience together that we have, that we could make something really special.”

She also revealed that the name was based on an iconic 2010s TV show character, Effy Stonem from Skins. The vintage store later partnered with local artist Nina Maxwell, who has worked with Friday Vintage previously, for the design of the cartoon character-style logo.

Here’s a few items that we got from the store during the Opening Party:

1. Pink Floral Tank Top

I’ve been looking for the perfect floral tank for a while and I think I finally found it! This top would be great for both a casual daytime vibe and a night out depending on how you style it.

2. Black floral sheer floor-length cardigan

This unique piece really reminds me of the 90s whismigoth aesthetic. I can imagine the sisters from Practical Magic wearing this.

3. Purple silk camisole

I love almost any purple clothing item and this is no exception, and when I saw how flattering it was on with the lace-up back detail then I knew I had to buy it!

4. Black lace corset top

This corset top fit me perfectly so I just had to get that as well. I thought it would be a great addition to my going out wardrobe as well as part of my Halloween costume for later this month.
