Coming up to Halloween anticipation has been high and to get us all in the mood a sequel to the 1988 goth glam cult classic Beetlejuice hit the cinemas earlier this month.
At Fashion North we were most excited to see the weird and wonderful Tim Burton-esque looks the stars rocked on the many premieres around the world.
Catherine O’Hara made stripes cool again while wearing a very in your face Beetlejuice-inspired matching button up shirt and tailored trousers proving that the undeniably recognisable and somewhat cringe Beetlejuice stripes can be styled to look casual and chic even in 2024.
Jenna Ortega stunned as always in the most gorgeous crimson Dior Couture gown directly inspired by Lydia Deetz’s wedding dress in the original 1988 film. The dress that took 600hrs to make modernised the garish goth glam look while still keeping the classic ruffles and iconic colour.
For his first ever big premiere Arthur Conti went for a more subtle take on his look keeping his Beetlejuice style literally up his sleeve, the lining to his Celine suit matching that of Beetlejuice’s famous two piece. The slight themed twist on such a classic look really adds and element of fun and whimsy that all the actors in this film have really played into.
Winona Ryder dressed in head to toe Chanel Haute Couture, the stunning suit jacket and full skirt have such a dark and whimsical look to them playing into the usual edge Winona has when it comes to her fashion whilst also embracing the whacky world of Tim Burton and Beetlejuice.
Finally, Jenna Ortega has to feature again because all of her looks have been simply ingenious and meticulously thought through and crafted. This custom Harris Reed dress strongly resembles that of a beetle’s wings with the structured corsetry and peplum waist continuing on her clever and creative theme of method dressing. Not shown in the image but she was also carrying a purse modelled after the Deetz house in the film, on Instagram, designer Marc Ozias said creating the one-of-a-kind bag was “one of the biggest projects of my life so far,”.
Ortega is now becoming a horror icon or a ‘scream queen’ and her dark, brooding, slightly gothic style is only adding fuel to the fire.
