From day to night: A weekend in the North East

The North East is a vast region, filled with deep history and culture but when we often think of the area, a few things spring to mind, like the iconic Angel of the North, a Greggs sausage roll and the Metro connecting nearby towns to the heart of the city.

In terms of fashion, our minds turn to an image of young women shivering in mini dresses before nights out in the depths of winter but a weekend in the city can be easily represented by the clothes we wear and the things we do.

Whilst you may be spending the working week counting down till 5pm on Friday to jet off on date night with your partner, your outfit must reflect your style and showcase your personality – that’s what they’ll see first.

Play it safe and stick to neutral shades with this light brown blazer dress with a flattering chunky belt it makes for the perfect evening look which can be accessorised with a small shoulder bag and brown wedges.

Double leather is the long-lost cousin of the double denim trend, just this is a fashion favourite rather than a faux pas and a styling trick made for a night on the town. Style together some faux leather leggings with a figure-flattering khaki green corset and strappy black heels.

Braving the sub-zero temperatures to head out for a night out? Then your outfit must be on point and that’s why choosing a figure-hugging bodycon dress with an on-trend pattern is the avenue to go down this season.

Dress: Pretty Little Thing (£20)

Heeled boots: Stradivarius via ASOS (£39.99)
