During this week’s heatwave, fashion north investigates street fashion.

The North East is springing into

the hot season with summer fashion. Short shorts, bandeau tops and sunglasses.

NAME: Libby Whitfield

AGE: 19

Whilst cooling down after a beach run, Libby wore a cute grey gym set from Adanola to enjoy her run in the sun.  She paired the look with a pair of New Balances and 90s style sunglasses. This look screams 90s casual workout wear. Many people, including Libby, are keeping neutral tones for summer 2025.

For a sunbathing sesh, Maddy wore a grey patterned bandeau top and white denim shorts to chill and listen to music. Both pieces are from Shein. Keeping it cool is must do for the hot weather, so don’t be scared to show some skin with a crop top and shorts.

AGE: 20

During the heatwave, Nicola was wearing a pair of black linen trousers from H&M, a knit cardigan from ASOS and a baby pink cami top from Primark.

A little cardigan is a staple for spring/summer, it’s perfect for when the sun starts going down and it starts getting a bit chilly. She also wore a pair of sunglasses, to watch the sunset.

‘I wear a cardigan literally everywhere, its so comfy’

For a warm morning at University, Becca chose to be comfy and wore an oversized print t-shirt from Primark and black leggings from TopShop, paired with some trendy New Balances. As it was the hottest day of the year, an up-do with a claw clip hairstyle was a must!

To conclude the heatwave investigation, people tended to enjoy the weather in comfy outfits, whether that’s at the beach, the park or even at university. I personally love to keep my clothes loose in the sun, and normally I would wear a splash of colour.
