International Mens Day: Top five menswear trends for AW15

shearling

The shearling trend took over the catwalk at London Fashion Week earlier this year, with the likes of Burberry Prorsum and Tom Ford incorporating the material in their AW15 pieces. With this year’s 1970s revival, it is only right that the shearling jacket needed to make a comeback too. Burberry decided to give the classic jacket a new lease of life by adding different patterns, whilst Tom Ford kept a more slimline silhouette. Designers such as Paul & Shark and Canada Goose have put a contemporary twist on the classic bomber by adding a cosy shearling collar for a more subtle look.

checked

Whether it is a suit, shirt or jacket, this seasons patchwork trend is hot off the catwalk. By pairing brighter checks on a tailored suit, you’ll certainly make a statement in the office or at an event. If you’re more of a casual kind of guy, a check shirt is the way to go, pair a classic check shirt with a pair of slim fitting jeans or plain tapered trousers. Issey Miyake and Vivienne Westwood brought colour to the runway with bold checks packed with playful colours, certainly adding some fun to your Autumn/Winter wardrobe.

military green

Military green has influenced the likes of Michael Kors and Bally in their AW15 catwalk shows. This cool, laid back trend can be easily achieved with some stylish separates or a classic tailored style mac just like the one featured above. This is the ultimate trend for you if you like to keep it simple with a t-shirt or sweater and jeans. If it’s military green then it’s on trend and certain to turn heads.

roll neck

Who doesn’t love a roll neck jumper? Combining both style and comfort when it comes to the colder months is essential, and a roll neck does just that. The roll neck has the ability to be dressed up or down. Whether you throw on a chunky cable knit with a pair of jeans for every day or layer it up with a blazer and trousers, it will look totally on trend. Adding a splash of colour can also make your knit stand out. Why not try a neutral mustard or rust colour knit to give your outfit a classic seasonal feel.

waist

Accentuate your waist this season with a range of tailored wonders to catch eyes and flatter your silhouette. A prominent waist is a huge trend for AW15,  with Dunhill among many using high waisted trousers and fine tailoring to really give the waist a shape. This trend is perfect if you love to get suited up for special occasions. This trend can work with a casual daytime look, by tucking a knitted jumper into a pair of high waisted trousers you’ll be mixing and matching some statement key pieces.
