The collection is based on Bruce Brown’s 1971 motorcycle film, On Any Sunday featuring Steve McQueen. Giving a nod to the designers motorcycling heritage, the collection featured a range of archive pieces with carefree denim and sleek leather garments. Belstaff announced on their Instagram account that the collection ‘celebrates the carefree attitude of the guys on and off the bike tracks.’
The setting had an outdoor vibe taking inspiration from the film. Sandy ground, trees and greenery and a vintage car all contributed to give the presentation a truly authentic feel.
With past Belstaff collections focusing on their statement plain leather jackets, this season sees customisation taking centre stage. Quilted leather and distressed denim jackets are decorated with racing stripes, vibrant stars and distinctive panelling. Staple t-shirts and sweaters were also presented in this collection for those casual days.
Belstaff featured five women’s looks from the Spring 17 pre collection, illustrating a laid-back vibe with casual t-shirts, leather jackets, double denim and slim fitting jeans. The collection also featured biker style leather trousers, camouflage jackets and neutral hues accessorised with biker boots and aviator style sunglasses.
Celebrities gathered to the presentation to see the SS17 collection. David Gandy, Oliver Cheshire, Paul Sculfor and Dougie Poynter attended the event.
Belstaff also welcomed Dougie Lampkin MBE, 12 time world trials champion, who performed extraordinary bike stunts.
Racing legend Sammy Miller MBE was also in attendance in his timeless 1962 Trialmaster jacket, a Belstaff classic first launched in 1948 and today is one of the brands best selling pieces.
