Menswear “style on a budget” at Daisy Chain

This week we were tasked with styling at Daisy Chain in Gateshead for a “style on a budget” challenge to try to make fashionable outfits for a bargain at the charity superstore. The wide selection available at Daisy Chain definitely helped with styling as most aesthetics were represented at the store.

The first challenge was “from 9 am to 9 pm – how to dress from class to bar.” For this, I wanted to keep the palette fairly neutral as the look had to be wearable in multiple situations. I chose an acid-washed shirt available for just £3 as the base, then layered a military-style cargo jacket over the top, which was on sale for £5.  These 2000s style jeans felt perfect to complete the look with faded washed denim, copper hardware detailing, contrast stitching and a drop crotch, bootcut fit and were also on sale for £5. The outfit was then completed with a £1 leather western belt.

The other challenge was to simply style and wear our favourite outfits available at Daisy Chain. As I have been on a bit of a denim kick recently this boxy, cropped Levi’s denim jacket seemed like an obvious choice for just £10. To keep with the blue tones I wore a blue chambray shirt underneath which was on sale for £3.

These green workwear trousers also felt like great quality so I chose them to keep with the rugged appeal that denim has, they were for sale for £5. I struggled to find shoes in my size at Daisy Chain so the outfit is completed by my pair of New Rock platform combat boots.
