Pandemic-proof New Year’s Eve outfits

All the usual  New Year’s Eve celebrations have been cancelled this year, and we won’t be celebrating the arrival of 2021 by dancing till the early hours with our close friends or at a family gathering. This year we’ve swapped a bar for our home. But moving our December 31 celebrations online doesn’t mean our style has to be compromised.

Fashion North have curated our pandemic-proof styles whether you’re in tier 1 or 2 and attending a bottomless brunch or like many of us in the North, in tier 3, who will be seeing in the new year in the comfort of our own home. Regardless of your plans, ring in 2021 in style.

If casual grunge is more your style, this look is perfect for you. The dark colours with a pop of floral colour make it perfect for new years. The ASOS Collusion skinny jeans are £13.99 and are perfect for either a casual vibe or a more dressed up vibe. The cherry red Dr Martens, which are £119, definitely add a bit of formality to the look, which makes them a perfect fit for new year’s. The Levi’s oversized jacket (£95) adds a bit of comfort to the look, fitting in to that grunge vibe. Last but not least, the New Look floral top is perfect to add a pop of colour and femininity to the look, coming in at only £9. Some more affordable options may be changing the Dr Martens for some nice ankle boots and swapping the oversized Levi’s jacket for an unbranded oversized jacket.

A major trend of 2020 has been faux leather so for your new year’s celebrations go all out with a full leather look. A versatile and day to night look appropriate for all of your plans. Style a simple ruched knit dress from Shein (£13.99) with an oversized faux leather blazers from Zara (£49.99) and complete the leather look with Zara’s flat, thick sole knee boots (£49.99). To complete the look, add this mini ruched bag from ASOS (£16.99) to channel another major trend of the year, mini shoulder bags.

If you want to dress up but stay comfy this outfit is perfect for you. With this Paisley Print Shirred Blouse (£35.99) from Topshop, you can feel as if you have been transported back in time with these statement sleeves and frilled collar. Paired with coated Dogtooth Leggings from M&S (£19.50), you can make a bold impression on anyone who sees you, whilst staying comfy at all times. With black Suedette block heeled ankle boots from New Look, you can add a sprinkle of power to your look. With the blocked heel you can feel as if you are taking on the world at New Year’s, and they’re only £14.99. With a Faux Fur Shawl Collar Coat by Andrew Marc from Costco (£44.89) you can stay nice and toasty, whilst social distancing outside with some friends or family, depending on your Covid tier! If you are looking an alternative to this coat there are many to choose from, such as this Tan Extra Longline Faux Fur Coat from George for £38. Last but by no means least is this gorgeous dark grey oversized wool mix scarf from Asos. At £25 you can either tie this scarf to your bag to create a statement accessory or wrap up warm this New Year’s.
