Pocket personal stylist: Enty the new style app

Gone are the days of spending hours mulling over outfit decisions, as an app which allows users to seek advice from personal stylists has recently launched.

In the digital age of social media, we are all now more conscious about our appearances than ever before. Most of us would turn to family or friends when seeking style advice, but imagine having a personal stylist right in your pocket. Queue Enty: the new fashion app that allows users to post photos of outfits, and personal stylists can comment with recommendations and style tips. The community are also able to vote on which outfit they like the most.

The US based app was the genius idea of Sophia Matveeva, after spending some time at New Venture Challenge the idea evolved into Enty. She initially embarked on the idea of a ‘personal shopper in your pocket’ with Style Counsel, a peer-to-peer outfit sharing app.

The interesting thing about Enty is that only screened stylists are allowed to comment on posts. Matveeva is striving to ensure the platform is completely troll-free. She wishes for the platform to be a  a place where women can go to be empowered and feel confident, and not be criticised for the way they dress or look.

The platform chooses stylists depending on their experience, they must pass a screening process to make sure they are a good fit for Enty. So far, the app has 140 professional stylists and bloggers on the app, and more than 17,000 UK subscribers. It usually takes a stylist around three minutes to respond to a users photograph.

I downloaded the app myself to see what all the fuss was about and found it pretty easy to navigate around. It even displayed instructions to offer ease of use and users’ images appeared in a newsfeed- similar to the Instagram layout. A question is then posted by the user such as: Does this suit me? Is this a good fit? or Should I buy this? There is even an option to post your own question.

I decided to post a photo wearing some white dungarees I had recently purchased, as I was unsure about the item myself in fear that I looked like a painter and decorator. However, I received some lovely feedback from stylists on the app.

Enty is available to download for free on the Apple app store, with an Android version set to be released in 2019. If you want full access you can pay a monthly subscription from £4.99 a week to access personal and unlimited feedback from stylists. I highly recommend downloading the app, as it’s free and could even help you out with your own styling situations.
