Pretty Woman: 30 years of Julia Roberts on our screens

Julia Roberts is celebrating 30 years within the film and tv industry and has a lot of iconic roles to her name.

Choosing your favourite film of hers is a difficult task. Whether Pretty Woman is on repeat on your TV, or Notting Hill is your go-to film for a girl’s night in, one thing that is for certain is that you’re more than likely going to have at least one that you just never tire of watching.

She’s currently wowing audiences in the American psychological thriller Homecoming which is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, and is currently starring in the new film Ben Is Back which is due to be released in cinemas next week.

Nevertheless, any opportunity for us to celebrate Julia’s style is one that must always be taken, so here is a list of some of our favourite fashion moments from the legend herself…

1989

Julia walks out with her natural curly locks, minimal makeup, a chunky white knitted jumper, black mini skirt and black knee-high socks. We want to copy this outfit immediately!

If you’re going to wear men’s clothes you may as well follow in Julia’s footsteps and wear a men’s full suit which is so oversized that it hides your arms. If you raid your Dad’s or Grandad’s wardrobe, you might be able to replicate this style pretty easily.

Tuxedo dresses are making a come-back so we could not leave this outfit out. Julia is the original tuxedo dress queen, and they’ve been brought back on trend with the influence of Meghan Markle.

1999

One of Julia Roberts’ most iconic outfits worn at the Notting Hill premiere, where she turned up with un-shaven armpits.

2001

She may have picked up the Academy Award for best actress after her performance in Erin Brockovick, but it was this Valentino dress from the Oscars that stole the show that night.

2002

This daring long-sleeved Giorgio Armani number with a thigh-high slit was worn by Julia to the Oscars in 2002.

2004

The envy so many of our 00s-selves are feeling is real right now. Julia managed to pull off an elegant satin dress that would have been our dream prom dress 14 years ago.

Not only can she pull off men’s suits and tuxedos, but she can also make tuxedos look stylish and classy, making her a woman of many talents.

At the Emmy Awards in 2014, Julia wore an Elie Saab couture mini dress with a fresh and young vibe.
