The Bridget Jones film franchise has been a rom-com staple for over two decades and created so many iconic fashion moments. As the new film, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, is released on Valentine’s day 2025, Fashion North takes a look back at Reneee Zellweger’s past film premiere outfits.

From the first ever Bridget Jones premiere, Renee wore a midi length, figure-hugging black dress with stripes of mesh and a scoop neckline finished with a small black bow. She accessorised this with some simple black pointed-toe heels, dainty stud earrings, cherry red lipstick and her hair pulled back. This outfit is the perfect mix of cute, sexy and classic, which represents Bridget’s hopeless romantic personality well.

After her second time playing Bridget Jones, Renee chose to wear a bold, shiny red A-line dress with gold pattern detailing and matching gold strappy heels. She also debuted her dyed dark hair in contrast to Bridget’s iconic blonde hair. You can spot the look in Glamour magazine’s Insta carousel above.

In her next film premiere, ten years since the last film, Zellweger arrived in a stunning strapless black A-line dress with a circle skirt made of a sparkly fabric that had stripes of lighter and darker shades. This could be a more formal, sophisticated version of her first premiere dress, as the black stripes and stiletto heels are almost identical and her classic blonde hair is tied back again.

In January, the A-list actress appeared at the new film premiere in Paris. She was spotted in a one-shoulder black lace floor length dress with her hair in a classic updo. It seems that she is following the tradition of wearing a semi-sheer black dress to the Bridget jones film premiere as she did for films one and three.

Later that month, at the London screening, she is seen wearing a glamorous hot pink silk bodycon dress with a long train, classic dark red stilettos and a side ponytail. This bright shade is reminiscent of her second Bridget Jones film premiere, in which she wore a bright red instead of a bright pink. Both colours match the themes of romance and being bold and unapologetically yourself.
