After collaborating with River Island, Balmain and MAC cosmetics in the past, Rihanna is strongly rumoured to have signed a seven figure contract with the sportswear giant Puma.
Although this is yet to be confirmed by either party, it would be a great career move for the singer, who is already known for putting her own twist on sports street-wear. Fashion website Women’s Wear Daily reported that a number of sources have hinted towards a collaboration, and The New York Daily has confirmed that Rihanna plans to increase her focus on footwear.
The collaboration will require Rihanna to wear the brand to endorse it, obviously adding her signature style to it, and will be designing footwear and clothing for the brand. Whilst well known for her headline grabbing statement pieces on the red carpet, the singer tends to be more commonly photographed with a relaxed sportswear style with crop tops, heels and gorgeous jewellery.
Rihanna would be in good company at Puma, with Beyoncé’s younger sister Solange Knowles recently appointed as the Art Director and Creative Consultant. Solange is putting her stylistic and creativity skills to use for Puma and it has already resulted in a range of pastel toned, primarily yellow and green, running shoes names Wild Wonder.
This collection will be released on November 28 and her second range, Behind the Bazaar, will be hitting the shops on December 13. Her footwear range is amazingly matched with her sister Beyoncé’s sportswear range for Topshop. If these RiRi rumours are true, we’re eagerly awaiting for some clues and hints to what the possible upcoming collection will include, however we know that it will be something definitely worth waiting for.
