The one shoulder asymmetrical supremacy trend is for every season

You don’t need to tell us or remind us twice that our days of summer have just passed and we are now approaching winter’s cold bloom. Although the most essential; thing to do right now would be bracing for the freezing days ahead, it’s hard to do so when one-shoulder asymmetrical garments are paving the way as the new trend especially, in Spring 2022.

Being a trend that knows no weather restriction, the “one shoulder” has evolved throughout the years. Starting as a unique but formal cut that can mostly be found in formal evening dresses, it has now progressed to highlight a more deconstructed yet bold look emphasised on one side.

In the latest fashion week representing spring and summer, we spotted some brands embracing this fine element of detail, proving that supremacy lies in the one-shoulder asymmetrical look.

When it comes to looking sexy, bold, and elegant at the same time, trust Ottolinger to understand the assignment. After going through multiple digital fashion weeks, the German brand returns fresh out of the runway with a series of one-shoulder asymmetrical looks emphasising thin criss-cross deconstructed features. Being a brand that hardly yearns to be subtle and formal,  Ottolinger Creative Directors Cosima Gradient and Christa Bösch have also taken this time to add neon attractive colours and distorted earthly themed images of wheat and roses in its mesh pieces that would make any head in a crowd turn.

It’s the show that we’ve all been waiting for as the dark prince of fashion returns to the Palais De Tokyo with a line of sculptured and sheer thistle-coloured one-shoulder asymmetrical garments. However, what makes Owen’s design different from the rest of the other brands is that it’s accompanied by something to have over you, whether it’s a sleeveless bulky arched puffed jacket, an oversized kimono, or even a sheer cobwebbed tunic scarf.  Compared to Owen’s other collections, this one is far from the normal gloomy outreach but instead was also filled with soft and pastel tones showing a whole new side of the designer.

More than just another collection,  Asian-American designer Kim Shui turns the tables on western fashion appropriation in her Spring/Summer 2022 collection only, this time from the Asian gaze and after the many consistent appropriations of Asian garments. The one-shoulder asymmetrical designs here enunciate a more “American cowgirl” look with frills, parted drawstring tops, and famous midwestern floral imagery too.

The one-shoulder asymmetrical trend is rising up to be the most creative and must-have look of the season, as it adds sensuality and boldness no matter how deconstructed or oddly composition it will ever be.  Several influencers have also jumped on the bandwagon to incorporate this look and hopefully, it will give you some inspiration for a wardrobe switch up.
