The stars were out in force on the red carpet again at the Peoples Choice awards on Tuesday evening (or 2am Wednesday for us in the UK) in an array of beautiful, classic, daring and sometimes questionable outfits.
Decked out in their finery, the celebs offered up a slew of inspiration for our party looks this season. But some unfortunate souls also set an example of what not to wear. Read on and learn!
JoJo Siwa, known for her eccentric outfits and love of bows, looked like a cupcake in a tulle Jenny Packham dress, but not in a good way. The tiered dress looked outdated and looked far too young for her, more suited to a child playing dress-up as opposed to the red carpet.
Madison Bailey, star of Outer Banks on Netflix, dazzled in a floor-length Moschino dress. The glamorous but playful look just reiterated how you can never go wrong in sequins for the holidays.
Cardi B wore Sol by Irena Soprano, giving us a twist on classic sparkle in a red, almost rose gold shade and with a supremely flattering sweetheart neckline.
Paris Jackson showed us how to do grunge for Christmas, in a beautiful Vivienne Westwood dress, fishnets and tartan heels. The plaid platforms may not be an option for everyone, but she showed how a statement heel isn’t just confined to dressing up a simple black outfit. If there’s anytime to try the more is more approach, Christmas is the perfect occasion. We also have serious corset envy, with a bodice or bustier being the perfect way to add some spice to an outfit or re-invent a dress that you’ve worn one too many times.
Whilst not everyone will love the look, Kim K pulled off an all-black Balenciaga look. It’s not the most festive of colours, however we can clearly see the effect of a monochrome outfit. For a bolder, wintery look, try head-to-toe red, green or white. You can play with textures and materials to add some definition to the outfit or make it more tonal by utilising different shades and hues of the same colour.
