Newcastle based company, This Is Creative Enterprise (TICE), offers Fashion Retail Traineeship for all 16 to 18 year olds interested in career in fashion.
After a successful fashion scheme in August, a new one will start in January and places are available now.
The workshops will be based in Newcastle City Centre, but all young students from the North East region are welcome to join.
In this course, students will be introduced to the career options within the fashion industry. The traineeship course will cover a range of topics including styling, branding, visual merchandising, customer profiling, e-commerce and many more.
Jennifer Barrett, managing director of TICE, said: “In this seven-week long course, the first two weeks are dedicated to the specialist creative delivery; one is for employability skills and the last four weeks are for fashion placements. These traineeships are centred on young people being able to access entry and experience in the creative industries. It’s extremely hard for a young person starting from 16-years-old to gain relevant work experience in this sector or for companies to take them on due to their lack of skills.
“In addition to the specialist creative and employability training they receive, we are working with very forward-thinking companies who recognise the benefits in starting to train young people of this age. With everyone working together there’s a very positive outlook for young people and creative traineeships.”
The programme gives a chance to work with such fashion brands as Topshop and Debenhams, as well as North East companies, such as Jules B.
TICE also organises similar programmes for music or graphics, so there are plenty of opportunities for everyone dreaming about career in creative industry.
