Trend alert: Get the faux leather look

There is no stopping the leather trend from dominating this autumn/winter, coming in endless forms from coats, legging to dresses. The leather trend was incorporated into the street-style from the recent fashion month and has now found its way onto the hottest celebrities and influencers.

Last weekend, Hailey Bieber stylishly demonstrated the leather trend whilst attending the Saturday Night Live studio in New York to support her husband, Justin. The model posed for her 29 million followers wearing a strappy leather dress by Polish designer Magda Butrym, the dress had an open back and square neckline. She styled it together with strappy heels and a statement zebra printed Bottega Veneta pouch.

We can expect to see a lot more of leather dresses next season after them appearing at the spring/summer fashion weeks last month, Louis Vuitton paired a mini dress with an oversized trench coat giving us styling tricks for the season to come.

Take inspiration from Hailey Bieber and add a leather dress to your evening wardrobe this season, choose this black faux leather cami midi dress from I Saw It First (£22), wear it underneath an oversized dad blazer and strappy heels for a classic evening look. If you want to take a more casual approach to this trend, this black PU shirt dress from Miss Selfridges (£39) can be styled together with a pair of chunky trainers or combat boots for the perfect day look.

Give your outerwear an upgrade by adding a statement leather-look jacket to your winter wardrobe. Pick any timeless design; trench, biker jacket or blazers and chose its leather counterpart for an on-trend coat option.

Influencers have been sharing their love for leather trenches, whether a vintage find or a new high street purchase, the trend is easily achievable for us all. Keep it classic with a black leather longlined trench coat (similar to post below) from Nasty Gal (£95) which can be styled in so many ways, layer up with some knit jumpers or dress up with a mini slip dress.

Shades of brown have become the neutral colour of choice this season, examples of this seen at fashion week last month and now being adopted by influencers around the world. Cinzia Baylis Zullo (@CinziaBaylisZullo on Instagram) wore this longlined trench coat from Weekday (£110) with shorts and a varsity hoodie for a sporty vibe.

Having a pair of leather trousers or leggings to your wardrobe is an essential for this season, dressed up or down they are the perfect staple for any outfit. Invest in a pair from House of CB  (as shown left) black wideleg PU trousers (£79) or go for a pair of Topshop faux leather leggings (£19) or a casual day look styled with an oversized knit and blazer.
