Whistles unveil their first menswear collection

What’s better than one drop of winter fashion? How about two hyper-masculine loaded collections? That is exactly what Whistles is offering with their debut menswear collections coming this autumn/winter.

This is the first foray into menswear for the brand, whose aim is to produce high-quality menswear at affordable prices. Whistles Chief Executive Jane Shepherdson describes the collection as a “tightly edited core of familiar pieces”, such as a chunky cable knitted jumper in pale grey, which is one the standout pieces in the collection.

This first drop is cool, calm and collected but still warm at heart. Its palette is 90 per cent chilly cobalt and navy blues incorporated into backpacks and heavy knitwear, with hints of fuchsia pink scarves and jumpers complete with steel grey track pants and a Snow White high neck ribbed jumper.

The winter coat is oversized with biker jackets refashioned in shearling. Shirts range from clean Oxfords to textural check flannel. Cashmere has been fused into tracksuits giving a high-end feel to them.

The second instalment, which is online and in-store now, continues in similar vein to the first, with on point tailoring, an evergreen parka coat and statement knitwear. The choice of colour is minimal masculinity (even with a vibrant pink scarf), as a grey herringbone coat, white high-necked ribbed jumpers and monochrome holdall man bags are all on offer.

Granted this new side to the Whistles brand is not cheap, but it certainly is great for someone who loves good quality fashion. Knitwear starts at £115 for a Merino wool sweater, shirting starts at £85 and accessories start at £25 for a leather card holder going up to £450 for a canvas and leather holdall bag.
