It has been no surprise to the fashion world today that Nina Ricci’s creative director has stepped down.

The brand announced this morning that Peter Copping would indeed be leaving his role in the French fashion house. He has been tipped to be heading over to New York and becoming the new creative director of the renown brand, Oscar De La Renta.

On his departure Copping said he was thankful to the Puig for their kindness during his five year tenure. Nina Ricci have yet to announce their replacement for Copping but it’s rumoured that Carven’s Guillaume Henry will be taking over the position.

Henry is leaving Carven that is known, but where he will go next is still to be revealed.

It seemed only fitting that we should look over Copping’s best and slightly questionable designs for Nina Ricci:

1. Spring/summer 15

Copping really holmed in on spring summer vibes in his last season collection for Nina Ricci. He used a lot of pastel pinks and beige, brought together with chic tailoring, possibly one of his best collections, one piece that really stood out was a simplistic tailored jacket and skirt which would be great for the earlier spring months. The jacket screams sophistication while the skirt adds an edge of fun and femininity.

2. Autumn/winter 14

The whole collection was powerful and filled with statement pieces. One look that is already swarming high street stores is turtle necks skirts and statement coats, Copping brought this to our attention back in Feburary when he flaunted this magnificent creation down the catwalk, don’t you love it? Or is it only me?

3. Spring/summer 14

A more questionable look for Copping, it kind of reminded me of bride meets paper shreader. The cuts were jagged, fabric was slightly mix-match, the sleeves were long and skirt was short, got your head around it yet? It’s a Marmite piece even for me, one time I look at it and love it, the next I hate it.

4. Autumn/winter 13

The red meets black collection clashed with white skin. Yep, it happened, kinda still haven’t forgotten about it, kinda really want to forget about it. One piece that’s still screaming ‘WHAT” in the back of my head is the strapless above the knee layered dress complimented with a thick black headband (the headband was like something you’d just pull your hair back with on a pyjama day).

Overall, Copping is going to be a big miss to Nina Ricci, but we’re hoping if he goes to De La Renta he’ll take his unique spin on fashion with him.
