How to dress like an Italian diva: Alberta Ferretti RTW Fall/Winter collection MFW19

This year, Alberta Ferretti took on Milan Fashion Week at The Mall on Piazza Lina Bo Bardi with head to toe sorbet white costumes and golden embellishments such as buttons and earrings.

She used a colour scale of white through light grey to black and sometimes soft tones such as powder, carnation pink and peachy nude. The catwalk was quite an ordinary podium, except the floor which sparkled as it was strewed with many little diamantes. It made the impression of stars on the night sky.

To compare with last year’s F/W collection, Ferretti went the opposite way about her colours – the 2018 collection was led by black. Alberta has used similar cuts to the previous year and continues to represent the Italian diva, by her office-looking trousers paired with a blazer but in a more casual way with gloves, hats and sparkling embellishment.

In previous years we could see supermodels like Gigi and Bella Hadid or Kaia Gerber walking for Ferretti. However, this year there was only Bella Hadid as the star of the show. She looked stunning and beautifully simple in an oversized ivory cream-woollen sweater, high-waisted tapered trousers and white belt with golden decorative buckle. Based on clothes, it was visible that Alberta was inspired by the cowboy era because of the Zorro style hats worn on the runway. Also, models wore, in most cases, cowboy style boots in the colours, impulsive white, cream and black.

Furthermore, there were also colours used such as garnet, peach and gainsboro grey. Along with metallic colours like silver, bronze, rose gold and metallic black.

 

 

The designer chose quality fabrics – we see a woollen sweater with an imitation of metallic coloured leather, along with decent beading decoration. Cotton high-waisted pants, coats with shawl collars and blouses were also worn, and we particularly love the blouse with mandarin collar (top right picture).

On most outfits, we could see belts as decoration tightening the model waists.  There were frills, tassels, beading, sparkle embellishment, but all of them were used precisely and with an eye of detail. Alberta showed us a great example of how to layer clothes and look like Italian diva.
