Sultry, sexy and a lot of ball-gowns. As the new James Bond film hits the big screen this week we take a look at the coruscating style of the women that are, irreplaceably, some of the most iconic ‘Bond Girls’.
Okay, we can all admit it; we probably go watch the Bond films to drool over Daniel Craig right? But there is another highlight to these action packed films – the clothes! Whether it’s Mr Bond in a crisp tuxedo or the femme fatal owning a flawless ball gown, the fashion is timeless.
Eva Green as Vesper, the smouldering ‘Bond Girl’ in the more recent Casino Royale eludes elegance and poise throughout the film, showcasing an array of figure hugging dresses, dripping diamonds and saintly crimson lips. Seduction at its finest.
Tanya Roberts as Stacey Sutton proves that elegant and stylish Bond Girls were born in the ‘60s with her role in A View to Kill – the Roger Moore Bond days. Effortless bouncing blonde waves, with an equally golden complexion.
“At the beginning I felt a little nervous, because I felt I was maybe not beautiful enough or something like that. And then I realised it was more something positive”, Lea Seydoux, the latest addition to the ‘Bond Girl’ line up, said speaking in an interview with Screen Rant earlier this week. The French born actress is set to follow a long line of spectacular women and step into a world of infallible style and class but wants to stress that the role is more than being a pretty face.
Halle Berry took the typical ‘Bond Girl’ image to a whole new level. As Giacinta ‘Jinx’ Johnson, in Die Another Day, her pixie cut and bad-ass attitude led way for bond girls with a lot more sass! Remember her in that orange bikini strutting out of the ocean, slay!
Not only do these woman and characters have impeccable fashion in common, but also their strong female roles. Bond Girls are known for so much more than their beauty – let’s remember their empowerment as women and the ability to kick-ass in 8-inch heels and a ballgown!
Spectre is out in cinemas October 26.
