Emily Blunt matches the carpet at Mary Poppins Returns European premiere… but is it too much?

On Wednesday, December 12, The Royal Albert Hall held the European premiere for the new film Mary Poppins Returns. To mark this special occasion, the iconic red carpet was turned blue for the night.

However, when the stars arrived Fashion North was surprised to see that Emily Blunt – who plays Mary Poppins in the upcoming movie – matched the carpet. Although she looked stunning and much like a queen of the ocean, the event was too much blue for comfort.

Blunts royal blue dress had a sleek folded neck with a mermaid skirt. The long dress had a slight trail, which draped behind her as she flowed down the carpet. Her outfit was from Schiaparelli’s fall 2018 couture collection.

As Emily was the main star from the Marry Poppins film, she had to make a statement with her outfit, however, was it just a coincidence that she matched the carpet? We think not!

Along with dancers and appropriate music, the premiere looked truly magical. We love how in the new film, she wore an iconic blue dress, similar to the one which Julie Andrews wore in the original in 1964. Fashion North thinks that this was a planned outfit to surprise us all, but with the matching carpet, it’s definitely too much.
