Relaxing is all about getting your mind off the stresses of everyday life and we realise sometimes that can be hard because the real question is when is the right time to switch off from the outside world? And the answer to that question is anytime, whether it’s an hour out of your day or a whole evening it is so important to relax to help maintain a healthy mindset. Here at Fashion North, we are going to provide you with some of the best tips to help you stay calm.

Here are some easy ways to feel more relaxed in your every day life for 2019.

Turn off social media

This is by far one of the hardest things to do for most people since we are surrounded by the use of social media, however, it is one of the most relaxing things to do. We have found that by switching off from the online world it has helped us appreciate the little things more in our day. Yes, we know it can be tough urging to not sit and scroll through Instagram for hours on end but it is a great way of switching off the numerous thoughts going on in your mind. Even if it is just every evening, it will make a difference.

Have a pamper night

Self-care is so important in maintaining a happy and healthy lifestyle which is why we always think of running a bath, using our favourite skincare products and popping on your best face mask. Next time you are stressed, take an hour out of your day and pamper yourself because you deserve it and we don’t think anyone can deny the sheer power of a warm bath and a face mask. It’s just the best self-care medicine, isn’t it?

Get out the house

If you have been stuck inside all day we always find this is a perfect way to clear your mind whether it is going on a walk or seeing some friends. Just experiencing the fresh air outside can really help relieve stress and bring you peace. We really enjoy exploring amongst the outdoors when the sun is shining, connecting to your environment can make you feel great.

Be organised

Being organised is one of the best ways to feel less stressed. We’ve always found planning your week ahead always helps feel less chaotic. The perks of being organised are buying many different pretty notebooks and planners. However, allow yourself an evening to forget that to-do list, and tackle it with a fresh head the next day. Don’t let the that overwhelming feeling get the better of you.


Meditation is simply a brilliant way to relax. It allows you time to connect with yourself and ignore your surroundings. Make sure you practice it in a relatively quiet environment for ultimate relaxation and there are many different podcasts out there and apps to help get you started. We highly recommend The Daily Meditation Podcast. The key is staying focused and not letting any distractions or thoughts enter your mind—being mindful is key. After you have perfected the art of meditation you will be able to relax in no time.
