My style has definitely changed a lot over the years, and it’s absolutely for the better. I’m sure a lot of you can agree that you are not a fan of what you wore as an early teen and also, probably, not quite there with how you want to look now. If so, you are in the right place.
As a child, because me and my sister are so close in age (19 and 17), my mum always dressed us in matching clothes. I’m sure I didn’t mind it at the time, but looking back now, I really don’t like it. It meant we had no individuality in the way we looked growing up. It also meant that the “are they twins?!” comments were a lot more frequent, so thanks mum!

My Tween and Teen Era
Moving on to later childhood and the tween stage, I tried to follow the trends, but it never really worked out the way I wanted it to. I tried the leather plus fur jackets, the blue skinny jeans, and the Nike obsession. But nothing seemed to look right on me.
As we move to the later teen stage, my style was quite basic. Just a pair of blue ripped jeans, white Converse and plain tops. It wasn’t a bad way to dress but it definitely wasn’t where I wanted my style to be.
One thing that has stayed consistent is my constant love for black, I have always gravitated towards it. I think it suits me best and it goes with everything. Much to my mum’s dismay as she’s always tried to get me to wear a bit more colour. We even went shopping the other day and I managed to find two new black tops and she was trying her hardest to convince me to get them in different colours.
My Style Today
My style today? I would say it is a mix of alternative and grunge, with a dash of emo. I love short skirts, decorative tights, my Converse and Dr Martens. I adore my BDG Jeans jacket and leather jacket.
I feel confident in my style but, I’m still not quite there with how I want to look. I would like to evolve further but for now I’m happy with what I have in my wardrobe.
