John Lewis styling challenge: colour blocking the suiting trend

Power suits are a huge hit for 2019 and when set the challenge by Emma Snowdon, a John Lewis personal stylist, I knew I wanted to colour block with a vibrant red in anticipation of the spring season.

To create my look I paired a Ralph Lauren Audryck jacket in the shade Lipstick Red for £265 with a pair of Selected Femme Amila trousers in the shade True Red for £25. These two colours matched almost perfectly. For a simple tee to create a casual element, I opted for the Selected Femme Ann logo tee reading ‘Femme’ for £20.

I then chose to colour block with the classic choice that I always go for; black. With the bumbag trend recently featured on Fashion North in mind, I styled a Day Birger et Mikkelsen Gwyneth bumbag in black for £35 across my body.

To break the colours up further, I tied a John Lewis, black, occasion wrap scarf for £22 (not available online) through the belt loops of the trousers and added my own Primark boots. The look is casual yet stylish.

You can find a similar scarf that would work with this look for £30 on the John Lewis website.

Huge congrats to Abi Farebrother who won the styling competition with her suiting style.
