LFW: Topshop Unique AW16

With a relaxed feel from the start in the beautiful location the Tate Britain, Topshop Unique continued this theme throughout with the laid back music and slouchy cuts. The queen of fashion herself, Anna Wintour, was sat on the front row alongside models Jourdan Dunn and Suki Waterhouse.

The collection had a range of textures such as leather, fur and velvet; the thick and cosy elements of the collection were perfect to layer with the more sheer pieces. Eye-catching prints such as houndstooth and leopard print were paired with mustard and khaki tones.

Despite the key theme of earthy colours throughout the collection, there was surprise elements such as fuchsia lace creating a contrast in the pieces.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Similarly to the Topshop Unique AW15 show, fur was a key theme for AW16. There was a variety of fur coats and collars paired with lighter pieces such as bralettes and jumpsuits. As the show went on the pieces became sheerer, the range between tailored coats and skin showing blouses makes the collection perfect for both day and night.

With added touches such as embellished velvet and sequin dresses, the collection contains everything you need for the party season. The majority of the looks were worn with a unique pair of sock boots, the chunky heels gave the looks a more casual feel to show that the collection could be dressed up or down.

Models wore bold winged eyeliner paired with a bright fuchsia or nude lip. It was quite minimal when it came to accessories, with chunky earring and frilled collars being the only additions to the looks.

One look which stood out was the high waisted leather pencil skirt and coat paired with the leopard print jumper was definitely a personal favourite. Overall, the range of prints and textures worked well to create a lot of variety in the AW collection. Although I am still unsure as to whether the pops of fuchsia throughout really worked or really clashed.
