Paul Smith, known for his creative spirit since 1970 his Spring Summer collection is all about keeping the classic primary colour palette throughout every look.
Taking inspiration from his men’s wear collection, including sharp tailored jackets and relaxed fit trousers. Modern cuts such as the well-known box jacket was updated for the transition into the cooler season ahead; it featured a longer length and wrap detail. Asymmetrical wrap dresses featured a mash up of splashes of colour and scattered prints.
Feminine touches were added with leather waist clinching belts to accentuate the silhouette. There was a mix of simple clashing patterns featuring striking stripes to elegant two-tone dresses with embellishment of cut out gold rectangle bangles. There was a feel of pure luxury through the silk and floating material that draped through the catwalk.
Accessories added were the last touch to create the new modern woman, wooden block slip on’s and long delicate necklaces perfected the polished look.
Make-up was kept dewy and fresh, long gone were typical dark lips and smoky eye looks, a reinvented fresh look upstaged past trends.
Paul Smith showed designing for men and women the looks could complement each other through strong colours and tailored shapes. He shows that the new woman is bold, who has a new sense of modernity. Pushing the boundaries on shape, texture and colour, a collection that shows no age, pieces created to last for every season.
