It was announced earlier this week that 25-year-old Hungarian model, Barbara Palvin, was the newest recruit to the Victoria’s Secret angels clan. She made her runway debut in 2010, during Milan Fashion Week, for Prada, and is the first model from Hungary to achieve the status of becoming a Victoria Secret angel, so congrats to her.

Becoming an official Victoria Secret angel is a major deal in the modelling world. Their fashion shows are highly anticipated every year and they have had huge celebs model for them, including the Hadid sisters, Gigi and Bella, Kendall Jenner, Miranda Kerr and Naomi Campbell.
We thought we would give you all the opportunity to ‘meet’ some of the angels and marvel not just at their ridiculously good looks, but their achievements too.
Lily Aldridge

Lily Aldridge is one of the most well known Victoria Secret angels and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue models. The 33-year-old was born in Santa Monica, California, USA and has modelled in campaigns for Bobbi Brown, Tommy Hilfiger and Rag & Bone. She’s also appeared in editorials for multiple international issues of Vogue, as well as Glamour and Marie Claire.
Lily walked her first Victoria’s Secret Fashion show in 2009 and became an official angel the following year. In 2015, she was chosen to wear the ‘Fireworks Fantasy Bra’ in the catwalk show.

She married Kings of Leon frontman, Caleb Followill, with whom she has two children, in 2011. As if that wasn’t enough, she has also appeared in the music videos for ‘Bad Blood’ by Taylor Swift, and ‘Use Somebody’ and ‘Temple’ by Kings of Leon.

Taylor was born in Palatine, Illinois, USA and became the youngest model on rotation for Victoria’s Secret when she was just 18 years old (she’s now 23). She has modelled for brands such as Forever 21 and H&M, as well as walking in catwalk shows for Versace, Chanel and Armani.
Taylor walked her first Victoria’s Secret Fashion show in 2014 and was chosen to open the show in 2018. In 2015, she became an official angel and won ‘Model of the Year’ in social media at the Fashion Media Awards. She played the role of a model in the 2016 film ‘The Neon Demon’.

Elsa Hosk

Elsa was born in Stockholm, Sweden and after graduating, pursued a career in Swedish Women’s Basketball league, before becoming a model. The 30-year-old has appeared in campaigns for Guess and was also ranked 15th on the Top Sexiest Models list on models.com.
She became an official angel in 2015 and was chosen to open the show the following year. Elsa has received two prestigious honours in her time of being a Victoria’s Secret angel – she wore the Swarovski outfit in 2017 and was then chosen to wear the ‘Dream Angels bra’ in 2018.

Lais Ribeiro

Lais Ribeiro was born in Teresina, Piaui, Brazil. The 28-year-old has walked for the likes of Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. In 2011, she was the most booked runway model for the spring/summer collections, racking up an impressive 27 shows. She has also modelled in campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior and Tom Ford.
Lais starred in the 2011 Christmas commercial and the 2012 Valentines commercial for Victoria Secret, and was also chosen to open the ‘Birds of Paradise’ segment of the 2013 fashion show. She became an official angel in 2015 and was chosen to wear the ‘Champagne Nights Fantasy bra’ in 2017.

Lais gave birth to her son Alexandre, in 2008. Since then, she has dated American basketball players Jared Homan and Joakim Noah.
Romee Strijd

Romee was born in Zoetermeer, South Holland, Netherlands and has walked for the likes of Alexander McQueen, Balmain and Burberry. The 23-year-old has also modelled in campaigns for Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan and H&M.
In 2015, she became an official Victoria Secret angel and was chosen to wear the ‘Shooting Star Swarovski outfit’ in 2018. In 2017, she created her own Youtube channel – which now has over 839k subscribers – and now daily vlogs her life.

Candice Swanepoel

Candice Swanepoel was born in Mooi River, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. The 30-year-old has walked for the likes of Fendi, Dolce & Gabbanna and Michael Kors. She has also modelled in campaigns for Tom Ford, Givenchy and Miu Miu.
In 2010, she became an official Victoria Secret angel and also modelled for the Kardashian’s swimwear line. In 2013, she was chosen to wear the ‘Royal Fantasy bra’. Candice launched her own swimwear collection, Tropic of C, in 2018 and has also been ranked number 10 on Forbes’ ‘World’s Top-Earning Models’ list.

In 2015, she became engaged to her long-term boyfriend, Brazilian model Hermann Nicoli, with whom she has two sons.
