New York Fashion Week: Calvin Klein SS16

Calvin Klein’s spring/summer 16 show brought everything you would expect from the brand; effortless, stylish chic looks that are extremely wearable.

However, this range had a twist to the classic collections, with the show titled ‘The Morning After,’ reflected in the looks by small details such as frayed hems, see-through dresses and layered body chains. A subtle sexiness came through with the use of silk and satin fabrics, draped loosely over the models in billowing dresses and trousers. The slip dress was certainly the main attraction of the show, featured in whites and silvers with thick straps which were sometimes double-strapped.

As the show went on, sequins appeared on dresses and jackets in a dark navy blue, followed by thin body chains over white floor-length gowns. Nearly all of the clothes had loose tailoring, but were made feminine with low-cut fronts and the occasional floral print.

The colour palette for the collection included the use of whites and off-whites, dark blue and silver. As well as a classic selection of dresses, there were jumpsuits, long coats and the occasional skirt.

Models wore ankle chains with slip-on trainers which were also given a frayed look, showing that attention was really put into the details for this show. They wore their hair down and natural, with minimal makeup to add to the theme of the show.

Kendall Jenner, Zoe Kravitz and Atlanta de Cadenet were seen sitting front row, all wearing custom clothing from the SS16 collection.
