Newcastle are set to host the biggest North East fashion event of the year, NE1 Fashion Futures, this May.
Fashion Futures will be a two-day event which will be held at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, there’ll be a range of free industry talks as well as catwalk shows showcasing the top regional designers.
Day one of the event will consist of FASHION, this year’s Northumbria University Graduate Fashion Show – a firm favourite at Newcastle Fashion Week, attracting buyers and fashion experts from around the country. This series of catwalk is always a sell out, with it being one of the UK’s biggest fashion events.
Day two begins with talks, with a wide range of special guests. The first talk will be with some of the best from the industry giving the lowdown on all aspects of fashion. The panel will feature successful Northumbria University alumni; Michelle Taylor founder of luxury lingerie brand, Tallulah Love; Charis Younger, designer at hi-end fashion brand All Saints; Kate Ablett designer at Berghaus, alongside Darren Spurling, managing director of international footwear designer Terry De Havilland.
There’ll then be a talk from one of the UK’s leading designers, Henry Holland, who’ll be chatting with Laura Weir – fashion features editor of British Vogue and award-winning fashion journalist. Before finishing with Alexandra Shulman OBE herself, the editor in chief of British Vogue who will then take to the stage. Being one of the most powerful figures in fashion, who is responsible for increasing Vogue’s readership to over 1 million, this certainly isn’t an event to be missed.
In the evening the event will finish with Fashion Front Row, where doors will be at 7pm and show starting at 7.30pm. This catwalk show is set to feature the best of North East talent, with a variety of fashion designers getting involved.
