The latest collection from Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman truly is exquisite, fit for royalty and certainly fit for any high society banquet. You can always rely on the British duo to deliver couture standard evening wear in the form of ready to wear.
Opening the show with streams of gold, red and black with layers of tulle and floral embellishment, each model wearing their own decedent tiara and layered jewellery sashayed down the runway with the confidence of a Royal Princess.
Telling Vogue they were influenced by Georgian painter John Singer Sargent the Georgian era dresses were influenced by high class women wearing expensive gowns sitting for portrait paintings.
Handmade embellished floral designs were seen over the sheer fabric to maintain the models modest and hold an elegant form of sexiness. Gowns with gold embroidered tulle with fluttered sleeve and high necklines reminded us of the early days of Lady Mary from Downton Abbey.

The style of each dress changed from each look fluttering through different eras of past centuries. Flirting with high neck Georgian designs to distinctly 20’s flapper dresses with layers and layers of silver beading showing just the right amount of leg for a rebellious girl who has just discovered her new found rights as a woman.
Moving into the 30’s with a gold liquid lamé number with beaded lace sleeve and the odd exposed leg Marchesa really took us on a trip through the ages.
The dresses lacking volume, in the sense of metres and metres of layered tulle, made up for it with the level of detail each dress featured. Even down to the shorter dresses fit for a prom Queen the layered satin still had embroided 3D flowers nested into the necklines and resting on the models waist.
The ball gowns, soon to be worn by every woman wanting their Cinderella moment, were the highlight of the show. Cascading organza with floaty sleeves, flouncy fringe and feathering with hand beading and blinding jewel embellishments on both the front and back of the dress in rich gold, silver, black and a rather fitting royal blue. Stylists and PR’s are sure to be in a frenzy with celebrities trying to get the best pieces from the collection for the upcoming Oscars ceremony and they are sure to make the best dressed lists.
