This week, Fashion North’s shopping editors have brought you a little bit of their Christmas wish lists. Expensive clothes and accessories, anyone? Who would have thought – steal some festive fashion inspiration here (or just sadly sigh at the price tags of these lovely items).
Mayzin Han, Shopping Features Editor:
“Making a Christmas wish list and numbering it on the basis of how much you want it isn’t an easy task – especially when you want everything as equally as the sides of an equilateral triangle. But at the moment, here’s what I’m wishing for Santa and his red fur-trimmed cape to toss down my chimney.”
Camel check coat, £159.80, Miss Patina
“Being the Blair Waldorf-worshipping, preppy soul that I am, a tailored coat in this season’s most desirable colour – camel. Adorned with large check squares composed of charcoal and fire brick red lines, this exquisite wool coat is a delectably sumptuous shade of camel that’s neutral enough to transition smoothly into any girl’s wardrobe. It’s an investment worth making.”
Leather bag, £135, & Other Stories
“At this year’s Manchester student lock-in event I bought a large black tote bag from H&M, and I told to my boyfriend that it would be the last bag I would buy. Famous last words. Two months later, I’m scrolling through Other Stories – online window shopping, if you like – and I spot a black leather tote bag. With a structured body that’s encased in creamy leather, it certainly looks like a bag that can comfortably carry my daily essentials, and help me look, for lack of a better term, effortlessly chic.”
Rebecca Wayman, Deputy Shopping Editor:
Olivia Burton Big Dial watch, £75, John Lewis
“The top item on my wish list this Christmas has to be this understated but equally stunning black leather watch by Olivia Burton. For £75, it’s amazing value for money (and I hope Santa thinks so too). Although this watch comes in several colours and kitsch pretty patterns, this ever so plain and simple design couldn’t be more appealing to the eye. The classic black shade means I can wear it for any occasion, and for all the face might cover the whole wrist it ceases to look overpowering and that is what is so alluring. Michael Kors’ watches are so last season, right? Get your own Olivia Burton watch now at John Lewis in time for Christmas.
Satin Stripe A-Line dress, £70, Topshop
Another item that I wouldn’t mind channelling in the New Year would be this little number by Topshop. This particular dress may be £70 but it also comes in a petite size for all us 5’3 women. Topshop’s petite section is a dream; the clothes are as snug as a bug and I’m pretty sure this dress will look amazing when on (well, maybe). This dress is bound to look flattering on everyone with its ‘60s style A-line skirt and horizontal stripes – and if it’s satin, you can just imagine how soft and comfortable it’ll be. Head on over to Topshop as it’s selling out fast.
