Spring’s here! Or is it? We don’t know what to wear

The sun was shining, we all ditched our winter coats and boots, and basked in the mini-heatwave.

But then, hang on, Mother Nature threw a curveball bringing back winter with a vengeance with non-stop rain and SNOW (yes, snow!) .

The Met Office has forecasted temperatures between -1ºC and 0ºC around the North East and here at Fashion North we are all thinking how to transition from winter to spring during this unpredictable weather.

Here are some staples that you need in your wardrobe as we work our way through sprinter (that’s spring and winter!)

Layer, layer, layer

When in doubt, layer up! The easiest way to dress during this uncertain weather is to layer.

Swap your winter woolies for a light sweater vest to layer up when it gets chilly. Sweater vests are perfect for dressing when the weather changes at the drop of a hat because they can be chucked straight into your bag when it gets hot and can be easily put back on if the weather changes. Keep the colours in tune with spring with pastels and neutral colours that don’t attract the heat.

Keeping the Spring vibes in mind, Monki currently have a range of colours in sweater vests (£20) that are perfect for the transition into springtime.

If sweater vests aren’t your thing then why not try swapping your big winter coat for a lighter shacket? Shackets are thick enough to keep you warm, without being boiled alive and are extremely versatile for styling in spring.

If the weather does turn for the better you can even use your shacket as a picnic blanket when catching up with your girl gang.

With retailers stocking several colours and patterns, you can easily switch between styles and colours without breaking the bank.

This neutral check shacket from Debenhams (£30) is perfect for dressing up or down, depending on the weather.

The green pastel colour way in this New Look shacket (£36.99) is a staple for the transition into Spring, as it can be layered up or down with matching accessories.

Another great way to layer up for unpredictable weather are scarves. Lightweight scarves are perfect for weather changes, because in the heat you can swap your usual way of wearing a scarf into a headscarf or can even use it to accentuate your bags by typing it to a handle. The options are endless and can easily be put into bags when needed.

Next have a lots of styles and colours to choose from, as well as material so you can even opt for a thinner or thicker scarf to keep you warmer or cooler.

Whatever the British weather throws at us, we can be ready for whatever comes our way.
