The intricate, gold ceilings of the Paris Opera House were a favourite for the fashion editors to be posting on Instagram as they prepared for Stella McCartney’s show, some also showed off the funky light-up sunglasses they received in the invite for the show.
There was a wash of earthly colours throughout the collection, from stone grey, sky blue and black to a monochrome finale, these colours were shown off in the over-sized, chunky knitwear dresses.
The knee-length wrap around coat teamed with the coloured ankle boot, is clearly a must have for winter 2015, and a prominent look in the Stella McCartney AW 15 collection. There were also a number of over-sized, statement faux fur coats, which stayed true to Stella McCartney’s beliefs on using fur in fashion.
Teaming large flowers with earthy tones and feminine tailoring on trouser suits and, Stella showed how a working woman can look easily bring this ready-to-wear collection to her wardrobe.
The shapes were all loose, with most looks finished off with a belt or tied around the waist, making the waist look smaller. Most cuts were just below the knee, giving a more elegant, superior feel. The collection showcased a business woman’s attire with an edge of femininity that made it beautiful and edgy at the same time.
An asymmetric feel took over the show, from one-sleeved jumpers to dresses that draped long at the back and turned into a mini skirt at the front. There were also strapless dresses and off the shoulder sleeves throughout, these were teamed with beautiful asymmetric twisted pearl necklaces.
Cara and Poppy Delevingne graced the front row to watch the show, while Stella’s famous father Paul McCartney and Kanye West supported her backstage before the show. Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington were also along the front row.
