Spring/Summer 2017 Trends: Embroidered Fashion

Forget everything you thought you knew about detail, the Spring season has arrived and embroidered clothing has practically fell at our feet. Embroidery is reaching new heights and has come back with a bang!

From denim jackets, leather coats, jeans and shorts, embroidery is everywhere this season. Celebrities including Tyga, Stella Maxwell and Florence Welch have been noticed wearing the fashion. Tyga was spotted on the streets of New York City wearing Gucci embroidered jeans teamed with an oversized red hoodie. The embroidery shown on the denim jeans, consisted of a yellow stitched flower and red snake down one leg. The detailing of the embroidery makes any clothing or accessory a statement piece.

Embroidered clothing has gone full circle and has recently been a huge influence to both celebs and designers who are all struck by the new craze.

House of Holland and Gucci have interpreted the new trend into their garments. Henry Holland’s denim shorts with a frayed edging, show an embroidered floral design below the pockets. Buy a high street version of these shorts from Topshop, reduced to just £10.

Gucci’s pink poppy-embroidered lace mini dress is selling on Harvey Nichols for a massive £1,420, but whether you’re on a budget or ready to splash your cash, embroidery is a must for Spring. With holidays just around the corner, embroidered shorts and skirts are essential this season, head over to River Island and Mango online to snatch up these looks for as little as £30.

Known for wearing retro-type clothing, Florence Welch recently stepped out in Gucci, floral, embroidered denim. Photographed leaving her hotel in New York, the red-headed singer paired her turned up, floral jeans with black platforms and a plunged, sheer blouse giving a different look to the upcoming trend.

Model Stella Maxwell was spotted leaving the Versace SS17 show during Men’s Fashion Week in Milan wearing dark makeup around her eyes and a motorcycle jacket covered in embellishments and embroidered flowers. She paired the trend with dark wash denim jeans, portraying a rock chick look.

Balmain Fall and Pre Fall 2016 collection show another variation of embroidered fashion. The mini dresses are fitted with a tassel trim, covered in a stunning embroidered design, making the trend look just as good for dresses and evening wear as it does for casual wear.

With high street stores, like H&M, River Island and Miss Selfridge selling many interpretations of the embroidery trend, the new style is affordable and chic. What more could you want?

With this trend being readily available, embroidery will continue to be a favourite in the fashion world. How did simple stitching ever become so stylish?
