Stormproof style

As the UK  prepares for Storm Dennis to hit, us fashion conscious souls have had our own dilemma: how to stay stylish in the storm.

Do we risk the cold and leave our warm accessories at home or do we pile on every layer of clothing (think Joey from Friends) in a desperate attempt to cope in these freezing temperatures.

At Fashion North, we’ve collated some of the best fashion picks to keep you warm but on trend to battle through the storm.

A touch of colour

Although we are technically still in the height of winter, it doesn’t mean our wardrobe has to only in include dull and neutral tones, adding some spring shades can brighten up your outfit as well as being being fitting for this coming storm.

A simple roll-neck jumper is your go-to winter companion, you find yourself owning one in every colour from black to burgundy but why not experiment with some pastel tones.

There are many options for colourful jumpers online, at ASOS their fine knit rib jumper comes in both pastel purple and green (£22) making it perfect for the colder weather. Miss Guided’s classic cropped knitted (£12) jumper comes in this lemon shade and is perfect to be styled with light-wash mom jeans and a big fluffy coat for a fashionable but practical look.

When braving stormy conditions we rely on any added accessory to keep us warm, thats why it’s important to not leave your hats at home. Stand out from the crowd in a bright coloured beanie, try this lime faux fur extra large pom pom beanie from Topshop (£14) or if pattens are more suited to you, this pink sequin beanie also from Topshop (£16) is certain to keep you warm.  Keep it classic with this Topshop baby pink beanie (£12) which will adds an element of colour but will also style really well with any coat option.

Outerwear

The most important aspect of dressing weather appropriate is your outerwear option, it can make or break your outfit as well as determined how warm you’ll be whilst venturing outdoors.

Wrap up and stay cosy in this teddy style borg pea coat in cream from Topshop (£69), the perfect addition to any outfit. Styled together with mom jeans and a knit jumper (as shown above) for a stormproof look.

A major trend of recent times is athleisure wear. This cropped puffer jacket from Bershka ($45.99) can be styled with joggers and chucky trainers to fit the trend. Or stick to a classic and staple wardrobe piece of this stone ASOS Design trench coat (£48) which layered with a chunky knit, hat and scarf have you ready to face any weather.
