There has been a resurgence of exposed bras in female celebrities’ outfits, from on the red carpet to street style to the movie screen – this style has been spotted everywhere!
This look began to gain popularity around the beginning of the year, possibly linked to the release of the new Mean Girls movie, the original movie pioneered fashions that are still chic today such as the exposed bra.

The new version reinvigorates these old styles and introduces them to a new younger audience, which is perhaps why the trend is having a revival today. The exposed bra was a key look featured in the new film with almost all of the main female characters sporting a visible bra strap or cup.

American music artist Megan Thee Stallion, who is part of the 2024 Mean Girls soundtrack, referenced the iconic cut-out tank that the original Regina George wore in the 2004 movie.
