Marc Jacobs announced Winona Ryder as the new face of their 2016 beauty campaign back on December 8.
The 90’s icon, who has appeared in several Marc Jacobs campaigns in the past; including Spring/Summer 2003 and Fall 2015, has joined forces with the American fashion designer to create a new beauty collection which is set to be released in Spring 2016.
Jacob’s explained on his personal Instagram account that the campaign took inspiration from one of his favourite films, Last Year at Marienbad; a French drama from 1962.
The first peek at the campaign shows Ryder against a mirror in a retro-inspired look; featuring black and white crisp cat-eyeliner, nude lips and strong, dark eyebrows in opulent cinematic lightning.
The actress told Allure: “What I love about Marc – and there are many things – is that we both have a very similar penchant for past eras, and the history of fashion and culture.”
