With over 13 million subscribers on YouTube, Nikkie de Jager, known as Nikkie Tutorials, is the ultimate beauty guru we all love. Even though she started her career as a YouTuber back in 2008, many people discovered Nikkie through her Power of Makeup videos, where she invites celebrities and famous influencers to do their makeup on half of their face and talk all about fame, beauty and makeup.
Her most recent episode with Adele came as a big surprise for everyone, but it went viral just a few hours after it was posted and, we can all agree that our Twitter feed is now bursting with memes of Adele and Nikkie drinking wine. Wine aside, Adele says she loves The Rock and swears she can’t apply lashes and lip liner. She shares some of her beauty secrets and all-time favourite products and, our Fashion North team did a round-up of everything you need to know.

1. Prime, prime and prime
They say: “Not to prime is a crime.” Not really a crime, but priming your skin is one of the most important steps in a makeup routine and, a face primer creates a good base that prepares your skin for foundation, concealer and the rest of the products you put on your skin. In the video with Nikkie, Adele reveals that she loves applying Charlotte’s Magic Cream (£75) from Charlotte Tilbury before doing her makeup.

2. Brows and nails are a must
“I think you need a brow and a nail and, you’re ready to go,” says Adele. She always has her eyebrows dyed in a dark brown shade and, she even started learning how to dye them herself in lockdown. “If I don’t dye my brows, I look like Voldemort,” she laughs. “I look crazy.” When it comes to nails, an almond shape is Adele’s go-to.
3. Bronzy skin
A bronzy look is not just for the summertime. The bronzer is a product that gives warmth to the skin and makes it look more natural. Cream, powder or bronzing pearls, you name it. Adele says it is one of the products she always uses before leaving the house.
4. Blinding highlighter
Highlighter is the cherry on top in any makeup look and, the industry would be a much darker place without highlighters. Literally. Even though Adele says that she still doesn’t know how to use it, she is all about the glow. In a previous shoot, makeup artist Pat McGrath used the Pat McGrath Divine Blush + Glow Trio (£41) for completing Adele’s makeup.
5. Juicy lips
“I like a wet lipstick”, says Adele. Even though we are used to seeing her wearing perfect matte nude shades, Adele says that she loves sheer lipsticks and lip glosses and, Pat McGrath products are among her top favourites.
