Get the look: Adele’s make-up secrets and her £26 eyeliner

Hello is probably the first thing that comes to your mind when you say her name, but we all know Adele would not be Adele without her trademark winged liner. After a five-year hiatus, a weight-loss journey and a divorce, the video teaser of her new single Easy On Me, along with a majestic Vogue cover made the singer’s fans go wild and proved that Adele’s signature look is here to stay.

It took a 21-second black and white clip posted on Instagram to get us hooked. Everybody fell in love once again with her iconic cat-eye, with one enthusiastic fan writing ‘get the frickin winged eyeliner applied and smokey eye… the big hair and false nails on. Then we ride.’

To add to the excitement, the legendary Pat McGrath, now the world’s most influential make-up artist, revealed on her Instagram the products that she used for the photoshoot, including the eyeliner behind Adele’s famous eye look.

Pat McGrath Labs Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner (£26), from the make-up artist’s own brand, is the product we all have been waiting for and it’s already sold out in Selfridges. With a felt tip pen and an intense, long-wearing formula, Perma Precision is almost a mistake-proof product that allows you to easily create the perfect flick that would last all day long.

When it comes to the right technique, Irene Roozbayani, international make-up artist at Charlotte Tilbury, says: “The key is to start applying your eyeliner from the middle of your eye, working your way to the end and then back towards the inner corner, but do not pull your eye as this distorts the natural shape. Look straight into the mirror, bring your chin back upright, place your eyeliner where you want your flick to end, and sweep towards your eye, joining up with the liner you just applied.”

Irene recommends tightening the lash line with a soft kohl pencil matching the shade of the eyeliner for an even and ultra-black look. To make your liquid stay put for even longer and smooth out the edges, run your kohl pencil over the top.

“If you make a mistake, don’t sweat,” she adds. “Instead, use a cotton bud with eye make-up remover on and whip the end off and try again. When you’re done use a bit of eye cream on a pointed bud to slice the shape to obtain that perfect feline flick.”
