The fashion industry is taking inspiration from the cinema once again and, Last Night in Soho, released on October 29, 2021, is the latest film to inspire us.
The film focuses on two young girls, Sandie (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) and Eloise (played by Thomasin McKenzie) who both have bags of style and a distinct, 60s inspired look. While the film hops from the present day to the 1960s, the costuming is bright, stylish and we are desperate to recreate it.
The buttery blonde mini beehive sported by Taylor-Joy’s character may be harder to redo. However, we have scoured the shops to bring you the iconic looks from the film, perfect for channeling the two main characters and the essence of Mod London.
This peach dress from Karen Millen is perfect for recreating the soon-to-be iconic peach dress Sandie wears in the film. Paired with some platform heels and chunky gold jewellery, it would be perfect for a night out with friends over cocktails. Or, for a more modern and casual look, try this square-necked version from Missguided.
A beautiful white trench coat is another of our favourite pieces from the film. It is practical, stylish and classic, it is the perfect updated trench for any British woman’s wardrobe. In the film, the coat is perfectly paired with a white boot representing the go-go boot of the 60s but a trench, especially in white, goes with any outfit. Try this hooded style from ASOS or, for more warmth, there is a wool version from H&M.
This red slip dress from Urban Outfitters is great for re-creating the look Sandie wears with a red negligee and oversized bow at the back of the dress. It’s seductive and another stylish fit for a night out or even dressed down with trainers for a day of shopping.
