When I think of JW Anderson the first two things that come to mind is the colour black and leather; and of course the British designer showcased these renowned looks at LC:M this year. Donning long leather trench coats, brown leather jackets, red leather trousers and an oversized fan scarfs throughout the collection. It’s when you see a selection of pieces like that when you know instantly; yes, that will take off.
Established in 2008 by Jonathan Anderson, JW Anderson is regarded as one of London’s most intuitive fashion brands, with celebrities such Jamie Dornan wearing the British designer brand in his latest shoot with Elle Magazine.
The stage was set; purple shredded flooring which resembled wood chips and oversized studio white lighting. As the models stepped out, an immediate thought was the collection was very un-like previous A/W JW Anderson collections we had seen before. For one, there was a lot more colour; with selections of navy blues, greens, creams, blood red and salmon pinks.
The Northern Ireland born designer flaunted earthy tones on long oversized blazer jackets which were beautiful and classic, with oversized floral buttons for added detail. And underneath, of course, the collection boasted high neck under layers, mirroring what we saw in S/S 15.
The 31-year-old added a 70s silhouette feel with a modern twist within his collection as draped over the models feet were the ends of brown and black split flares. Leather wasn’t the only thing present within the collection; fur coats and wool bomber jackets also made and appearance on the runway.
The models we androgynous as always with wet look slick back hair whilst they strutted the runway in shiny painted black slip-ons
This year’s collection is totally wearable, the strong looks and desirable fabrics are a look we can most definitely imagine seeing in our A/W 15 wardrobes. The collection was classic and simple this year without going over the top with oversized fabrics. Keep an eye out for leather jackets and turtle necks this A/W.
