Mapped: 5 local fashion brands from North East to support during lockdown

North East is going through a local lockdown due to the pandemic of COVID-19, which means local businesses suffer from the lack of customers. Many of them have had to close and give up their dreams of an independent brand. Fashion North mapped local clothing and jewellery brands that are worth looking at and support.

Harlow collection is a brand launched only last year by a Vogue-featured fashion designer Hannah Wilson from Washington. The online shop offers various sustainable pieces of clothes that underline your feminine side.

Kate Walton founded Have to love, a multiple award-winning boutique from Newcastle. Her handbag collection under the HavetoLove brand was recognised by celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. Loungewear or outfits for a night out, and much more can be found online (or in-store once they are able to re-open). Currently, there’s a sale for coats and jackets!

For jewellery, lookup Irmy They’re handmade, ”Timeless and Natural: Simple yet Expressive: With a Touch of Humour & Magic” as they describe themselves. The beautiful earrings, necklaces or bracelets always comes gift wrapped in an origami-style paper envelope and a matching organza bag.

All beach lovers should take a look at SeahamWaves. This small business makes jewellery out of glass pieces found on the beaches near Seaham. Buy necklace, ring or earrings and have your beloved North East always with you.

If you want something more luxurious than head over to Corner93. This shop is not like previous ones because it offers second-hand luxury brands, both buying and selling. It’s worth considering to support and give a home to an unwanted item or get rid of your magnificent shoes/bags/clothes you don’t want anymore and get some money back.
