Phoebe Philo, the queen of functionality, reigned once again at Céline’s AW 15 show in Paris.
The collection was soft, sporty and undone, a foreign ambience was presented through tiled checkerboard flooring and rustic carved stools laid out for the frow elite, which included Kanye West and Anna Dello Russo.
Pom-pom scarves, bigger-than-life shopper bags, chunky trainers and woven embellished sock-style heels proved Philo was all about the details for AW 15. It was monochrome magic as zebra print coats and embroidered crochet graced the catwalk.
Amber orange shined through among the monochrome, whether it was leather flowing skirts, the two-tone bags or 70s style flared trousers. It was a colourful, warm and almost summery eruption streaming through the mostly black and white collection.
The Céline girls were individual and didn’t blend into a symmetrical parade; instead their make-up and hair was varied from model to model. Heavy hues of powder blue shadow and poppy pigment lips emerged in and out of the show, meaning each look was authentic and relatable; a unique aesthetic supplied to the show.
A black coat, cut to a feminine silhouette and boasting a fur hem, celebrated the luxury associated with the brand. Another key feature of the collection was the protection and quilting effect expressed on the coats, which were unbuttoned at the shoulders and truly unique in their form.
The show ended with the models taking to the runway for the fast paced finale, the energy was accompanied by the sound of soft chimes and drums playing in the background. The Céline AW 15 collection was made extremely wearable, clean and sporty by Phoebe Philo, who made it her mission to embrace and address the signature style of the high-end fashion house perfectly through impeccable tailoring and innovative use of fabrics.
