This weekend London hosted Stylist magazine’s first ever live event and our deputy editor was lucky enough to score a VIP ticket!
The day was fabulously fun, filled with Q&A’s, masterclasses, book signings and much more from industry professionals. Saturday’s guests included Lisa Eldridge, Bridget Christie, Nigella Lawson and Errol Douglas.
Dawn O’Porter hosted the catwalk show, where Stylist presented next season’s trends on the high street. Here are the five key trends the ASOS styling team showcased on the catwalk.
Sweet and Sour – A soft use of pastel colours, A-line midi skirts, bright boyfriend coats and pink accessories, available at MaxMara, Uniqlo and ASOS.
Supercharged Tweed – A modern take on the traditional aspects of Tweed styling. Paired with burgundy fur stoles, the models wore 3/4 length tweed trousers and long sleeved tweed tops. Contrasting patterns of different shades of grey tweed appeared, with pieces from Boden, Next and Principles by Ben de Lisi at Debenhams.
Period Drama – We all love a good period drama and now we can all take inspiration from our favourite shows and dress like a modern day Mary Crawley with help from Zara, Warehouse and Reiss.
Décor Dressing – It’s all about the prints this spring, from subtle daisy flowers to navy baroque brocade embroidery. On the catwalk we saw two piece outfits of the same pattern, paired with velvet loafers and knotted scarves. You can pick up this coat from Hobbs, and the skirt will soon be available to buy at Zara.
80s Glam – There’s been a lot leading up to this. First we had seventies, now it’s time for the 80s to have it’s moment yet again, but maybe with less permed hair! On the catwalk we saw black leather tops, with studded detailing, heavily beaded mini-skirts and halter neck party dresses. The one featured is from French Connection – perfect for your christmas night out!
Which will you adopt for the upcoming season? Are you a sweet mademoiselle with a penchant for pastels or are you an 80s party girl?
