The Style Evolution of Ariana Grande

Since Ariana Grande dropped her jaw-dropping 60’s themed music video for new single Positions on 23rd October, it got us at Fashion North thinking of how much her style has changed and evolved throughout the years.

Ariana uses Instagram to tease looks and promote her new singles and albums, so to mark the release of her 6th album, Positions, on 30th October, we have ranked her 6 best looks from previous music videos she has showcased on her Instagram account @arianagrande.

Being one of her first music videos, The Way music video introduced us to a very young and innocent Ariana Grande.  With her hair tied into a ponytail with a ribbon, minimal make-up and a white bodysuit, Ariana was keeping her looks very simple.

The Break Free video however, showed a new side to Ariana, with a futuristic inspired look.  In this video she wears a gold metal bodysuit but still has her hair in a high ponytail, which now becomes her signature hairstyle.

However, Ariana shocked us all when in the Dangerous Woman video, she let down those locks. Adorning a black lace bralette and matching choker, Ariana served us ‘just rolled out of bed’ vibes.

After a short break from music, Ariana returned with No Tears Left To Cry.  In this music video we see her sporting the longest braid we have ever seen, and she had gone an icy blonde too! She also wore a simple vest with a very dramatic blue satin skirt.

We know we will not be alone in thinking that Ariana’s angel outfit in the Don’t Call Me Angel music video inspired our own future Halloween costumes.  She could pass as a Victoria’s Secret angel any day in a sheer corseted slip with huge white angel wings and delicate jewellery.

Lastly, Ariana re-created many famous characters in all our favourite girly movies in this music video for Thank U, Next.  From Torrance in Bring It On, Regina in Mean Girls, to name a few.  However, this look inspired by Elle Woods in Legally Blonde must be my favourite.  A pink fluffy cropped top, with a sheer pink jacket teamed with simple denim jeans and a brown belt, radiates femininity.
